I’m Tesa Prescott, the founder of Classy Clean of JAX. Today, I’m pulling back the curtain on how this business started. It wasn’t born in a corporate boardroom with a fancy business plan. It was born out of grit, a vacuum cleaner, and a relentless drive to do right by the people in my community.
Let’s be honest—most cleaning companies start as a way to make ends meet. Mine was no different. Years ago, I started cleaning houses on the side. At the time, I wasn’t thinking about "brand identity" or "market penetration." I was thinking about making sure every baseboard was spotless and every client felt like they could finally breathe when they walked through their front door.
But something happened. I realized that the "big box" cleaning franchises in Jacksonville were missing the mark. They were sending different people every week. They were cutting corners. They treated homes like line items on a spreadsheet.
I knew Jacksonville deserved better. I knew you deserved better.
The transition from a one-woman show to Classy Clean of JAX didn’t happen overnight. It took late nights, sore muscles, and a lot of trial and error. But the mission never wavered: Deliver a luxury-level clean with a local, down-to-earth heart.
I didn't want to just build a cleaning company; I wanted to build a team of professionals who took pride in their work. I stopped looking for "labor" and started looking for "partners."

I am incredibly picky about who wears our uniform. I don't just hire for skill; I hire for character. When I bring a new team member on board, they go through "The Tesa Gauntlet." They learn that at Classy Clean of JAX, we aren't just "scrubbing toilets." We are giving a busy mom her Sunday back. We are giving a retired couple a healthy environment. We are giving a professional a sanctuary.
Jacksonville is a big city with a small-town feel. Word travels fast. If you do a bad job in San Marco, someone in Mandarin is going to hear about it by lunchtime.
We’ve grown because we’ve stayed true to our roots. We know the specific challenges of Florida homes—the humidity that breeds dust bunnies, the sand that finds its way into every crevice, and the "lived-in" chaos that comes with a beautiful life in the Bold City.
We don't just work here; we live here. We shop at the same Publix as you. We cheer for the Jags (through the highs and the lows). We are invested in this community.
To me, being a "professional" means more than just showing up on time. It means:
Looking back at those early days, I’m proud of how far we’ve come. But I’m even more excited about where we’re going. We aren't looking to become a massive national chain. I have no interest in being a faceless corporation.
